Duration: 14 Days
The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek has a duration of 14 days and takes trekkers to the Annapurna Sanctuary or also known as the ‘amphitheatre’. The Annapurna Sanctuary has become a popular spot for trekkers due to its breathtaking view of the Annapurna range and its easy accessibility from Pokhara.
Once trekkers arrive at the Annapurna Base Camp, the “gate” of the Sanctuary, trekkers will be treated to an amazing view as they pass between the peaks of Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre, with Machhapuchhre’s “fishtail mountain” in full view for the trekkers to marvel at. The Modi Khola Valley’s lush foliage of oak, rhododendron and bamboo plus many local Gurung villages meets trekkers as they enter the base camp.
The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is famously composed of a ring of no more than eight mountains of over 7,000 metres. This includes Annapurna South (7,273m), Annapurna I (8,091m), known as one of the highest mountain peaks in the world, Annapurna III (7,555m), Gangapurna (7,454m), and Fang (7,647m). Machhapuchhre’s majestic peak completes the circle at only seven meters short of 7,000 meters.
First-time trekkers are encouraged to join us on the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek since this particular trek is highly suited for both new and seasoned trekkers. The maximum altitude for the trek is at 4,130m, and as the sun rises and the air is at its most clear, trekkers get to see and bask in the view of the Poon Hill, whose highest peak is at 3,190m
We at Himalayan Treks allow full customisation for our customers, which is why we also have add-ons and trip extensions which can be perused by interested trekkers. Some popular trip extensions availed by our clients include a day or more exploring the historic sites of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur or why not pay a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Chitwan National Park. Likewise, it's also possible to extend your trek to link it with other treks in the same Annapurna area, for instance the Annapurna Circuit trek. However, if you are looking for a different experience altogether, we can recommend the Everest Base Camp trek and the Gokyo Valley trek (Everest region), the Langtang Valley trek or the Tamang Heritage Trail (Langtang region).
