TREKKING IN NEPAL

Nepal has always had a history on trading. Todays’ trekking is nothing else than the evolution from those ancient trade routes. So sometimes unknowingly we may walk in the footprints of salt traders, yak caravans and herders as Nepalis have done for generations.

Nepal is one of the most popular destinations worldwide. Himalayan Treks specialises in trekking in Nepal. There is so much Nepal has to offer and people’s hospitality is a bonus.

A high percentage of the first-time trekkers in Nepal opt for the Everest Base Camp trek and also the Annapurna Circuit trek. However, what Nepal has to offer is limitless and so there is a wide range of choices for all ages, fitness levels and tastes.

Although there are 10 mountain regions in Nepal, most trekkers focus on two:
the Everest region, also called the Khumbu region, and the Annapurna region. Continue reading, as there is more information about each region and the treks we offer further below.

Likewise, you can also attempt to climb some of the peaks that you see during your trek. The most popular ones are Island peak, Mera peak, Lobuche peak and Ama Dablam but there are many others too. The first three are great for a first time climbing experience. The latter one is more technical. EVEREST REGION of NEPAL

The Everest region is one of the world’s most popular and spectacular trekking destinations and is famous for its spectacular mountain peaks, including Mt. Everest (8,848m). In this region we operate mainly the following treks:

EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK
Trekking to Everest Base Camp is always an exciting experience and a trip of a lifetime. This trek is culturally awe-inspiring and it also boasts of its beautiful trails. Experience being on top of the world and indulge in one of the most stunning views you’ll ever come across. This is also a good option if you are under time constraints.
The highlights are the scenic flight to Lukla, the Base Camp experience and the views from the viewpoint Kala Pattar.

EVEREST GOKYO TREK
This is a great Everest trek and a bit more challenging than the Everest Base Camp trek. This trek leaves the classic Everest Base Camp trail at Namche and gets to Everest base camp via the Gokyo valley – Gokyo and Cho La pass. It is a more peaceful approach as most trekkers walk up to Tengboche. Also, it makes for a circular route that avoids retracing your steps. The highlights are the scenic flight to Lukla, Gokyo village, the ascentto Gokyo Ri, the Base Camp experience and the views from the viewpoint Kala Pattar.

GOKYO VALLEY TREK
The Gokyo lakes region at the head of the Dudh Kosi valley provides a great alternative to the popular Everest Base Camp trek. It is a more peaceful trek through the Sherpa heartland that affords more time for acclimatization with opportunities to savour the mountain panoramas from beautiful alpine campsites. The highlights are Gokyo village and the ascent to Gokyo Ri.

EVEREST THREE PASSES TREK
T
his outstanding trek covers the four main valleys in the Khumbu region, hikes up three peaks and crosses three high passes. The highlights are the scenic flight to Lukla, the crossing of Renjo La, Cho La and Khangma La passes; the ascent to Gokyo Ri, Kala Patthar and Chhukung Ri peaks; and the Base Camp experience.

TENGBOCHE TREK
This is a moderate and short trek making it ideal for trekkers who have never been to this region before or who are on a tight time schedule. Tengboche is the home of Nepal’s most famous monastery situated beneath the impressive backdrop of Mt. Everest (8,848m) and Ama Dablam (6,856m).The rich Sherpa culture and their friendly nature are an added extra bonus on this awe-inspiring trip. The highlights are the scenic flight to Lukla and the ‘Tengboche experience’.
