Overview

Mount Manaslu (8,156m) was first climbed in 1956 by a Japanese expedition. Its name comes from the Sanskrit word manias, meaning “intellect” or “soul”. It is the same root word as that for Manasarover, the holy lake near Mt. Kailash in Tibet. Just as the British considered Everest their mountain, Manaslu has been always regarded as the “Japanese mountain” by the Japanese; because of the Japanese people’s first conquered on its top.

This mountain is a good choice for those climbers who already climbed successful one of the 6000m and 7000m peaks Himalayas. It is excellent as part of the training preparation for higher 8000m expeditions, especially in preparation for Mt Everest (8848m).

This expedition runs every year during September and October.

We at Himalayan Treks allow full customization for our customers, which is why we also have add-ons and trip extensions which can be perused by interested trekkers. Some popular trip extensions availed by our clients include a day or more exploring the historic sites of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. However, if you are looking for a different experience altogether, we can recommend the Annapurna Circuit trek or the Gokyo Valley trek.
